The traveller will have an astounding preview of the beautiful countryside. Surrounded by mountains and tribal villages, it is a hiker's paradise. The 2000-year old rice terraces around it provide a magnificent sight and have been called The Eighth Wonder of the World.

Banaue is world-famous and is a "must." Its rice terraces are a World Heritage Site, beautiful stairways to the sky that ascend steep mountainsides, occasionally punctuated by small homes. Original terracing dates back a long time, although there is much new.

The best time to see the many wonders in Banaue would be, particularly if you want to see the green terraces, April-August; rainy season July-January; cool November-February.
March to May is hot and dry, with temperatures ranging from 22-32 degrees Centigrade.
June to October is rainy. November to February is cool; temperatures range from
22-28 degrees Centigrade. Average humidity year-round is 77%.
